Ahead of talks between Iran and the United States, which are to be mediated by Pakistan in Islamabad, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif addressed his country in a televised address on Friday, UNN reports with reference to CNN.
"This is a crucial moment," Sharif said. "I ask all of you to pray that these talks are successful, countless lives are saved, and the world sees peace."
Sharif praised the actions of Pakistani Field Marshal Asim Munir, a close ally of US President Donald Trump, and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, who "extinguished the flames of war."
The Prime Minister added that tomorrow, "God willing," the US and Iranian leadership will be present in Pakistan to participate in the talks.
"The Pakistani leadership will make every effort to ensure these talks are successful," Sharif said. "Everything is in God's hands."

This morning, US Vice President J.D. Vance boarded a plane bound for talks in Pakistan, stating that he "looks forward" to these negotiations.
"As the President of the United States has said," Vance told reporters, "if the Iranians are willing to negotiate in good faith, we are certainly willing to extend a helping hand to them."
