NATO confirmed that a drone was shot down over Latvian airspace and that fighter jets were scrambled in Romania due to drones entering its airspace the previous day, stating that it is "ready and able to respond to any potential threats" to protect the alliance, NATO spokesperson Allison Hart said on Friday, reports UNN.

"NATO is providing protection for our skies. This morning, we saw Italian Eurofighters based in Lithuania and Turkish F-16s from Estonia take to the air, with one Eurofighter shooting down a drone over Latvian airspace," the NATO spokesperson said on X.

She added that "yesterday, both Romanian F-16s and Spanish F-18s took to the air after drones entered Romanian airspace near the border with Ukraine."
"Day after day, NATO is ready and able to respond to any potential threats around the clock, in order to protect our territory and safeguard our people," the military alliance's spokesperson emphasized.
