In the first half of 2024, 87,655 newborns and 72,766 marriages were registered in Ukraine. The majority of births and marriages took place in Kyiv, followed by Lviv, Dnipro and Odesa regions, the Ministry of Justice reported, UNN writes.

In the first six months of this year, 87,655 children were reportedly born in Ukraine. Most of them were born in Kyiv (9,695), Lviv (7,923), Dnipro (6,962), Odesa (6,197), Kyiv (4,947), Rivne (4,532), Zakarpattia (4,323), Vinnytsia (4,005), Ivano-Frankivsk (3,916), and Kharkiv (3,798) regions.
It also states that 72,766 marriages were registered in the first half of 2024. Most marriage records were drawn up by civil registry offices in Kyiv (9,392), Dnipro (7,076), Odesa (4,896), Kyiv (4,848), Lviv (4,616), Kharkiv (4,148), Vinnytsia (3,362), Poltava (3,065), Cherkasy (3,001), and Khmelnytskyi (2,925) regions. Five times fewer couples (15,578) decided to end their marriage (15,578).
In addition, according to the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine, 4,605 Ukrainian citizens changed their name, surname, and/or patronymic during the period under review. Most often, state registration of name changes was carried out in Kyiv (709), Dnipropetrovska (390), Lviv (329), Odesa (325) and Kyivska (291) oblasts.
