The head of the Iranian delegation, who met with US Vice President J.D. Vance last weekend, said that Americans would soon be nostalgic for the era of "$4-5 gasoline," UNN reports.

"Enjoy current gas station figures," Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf wrote on X on Monday.
"With the so-called 'blockade,' you will soon be nostalgic for $4-5 gasoline," he added.
Ghalibaf added a screenshot of gas station prices in Washington with the search query "gas station near the White House."
He also added a mathematical equation that suggests the price increase will be a complex, non-linear jump, CNN writes.
According to the American Automobile Association, the national average price for regular gasoline in the US is about $4.12 per gallon as of April 12, 2026.
CNN also notes that Iranian state media reported today that "no port in the Persian Gulf and the Sea of Oman will be safe" if its own ports are threatened.
"The security of ports in the Persian Gulf and the Sea of Oman is either for all or for none," said a spokesman for Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, according to the semi-official ISNA.
The spokesman called the US actions "illegal" and an example of "maritime piracy." As Iran has repeatedly emphasized since the beginning of the war with the United States and Israel, "enemy-affiliated vessels have no right to pass through the Strait of Hormuz," ISNA quoted the spokesman as saying.

The US military announced on Sunday that starting at 10:00 AM ET (3:00 PM Kyiv time) on Monday, they would impose a blockade on all traffic to and from Iranian ports in the Strait of Hormuz, following unsuccessful negotiations in Pakistan over the weekend.
