In 2025, the Ombudsman's Office received 3,426 appeals regarding violations of children's rights, and also conducted 826 visits and 110 off-site monitoring. This was reported by the Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights Dmytro Lubinets, writes UNN.

According to him, a special emphasis in the work was on the return of deported and forcibly displaced Ukrainian children. As of December 31, 2025, within the framework of the presidential initiative Bring Kids Back UA, 1,943 children were returned from the temporarily occupied territories and Russia. Of these, 667 children were returned in 2025.

Lubinets clarified that the Commissioner's Secretariat directly returned 410 children, 194 of whom were returned last year. As of now, the total number of returned children has increased to 2,063.
Some children are accompanied in special centers
After returning, children continue to work in Child Protection Centers, which operate according to the "Barnahus" model. Such centers operate in Kyiv, Kharkiv, Lutsk, Rivne, and Dnipro.
The Ombudsman also cited an example of a separate special operation – the return of a three-year-old boy from Cairo, who was left abroad without his mother.
