The Russian army has intensified offensive operations across virtually the entire line of demarcation and is regrouping its troops. Approximately 106,000 enemy personnel are concentrated in the Pokrovsk direction alone. This was reported by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, General Oleksandr Syrskyi, according to UNN.
The Pokrovsk direction is currently the most tense, where the Russian aggressor has concentrated about 106,000 personnel. Enemy activity also remains high in the Ocheretyne, Oleksandrivka, Kupiansk, and Kostiantynivka directions, as well as in areas along the state border with the Russian Federation
Units of the Ukrainian Defense Forces are thwarting Russian plans, steadfastly holding their lines, and conducting their own active operations under favorable conditions. Despite constant pressure from the enemy, the Ukrainian military continues to perform tasks on Russian territory as well: "our presence in the Kursk region is maintained," the Commander-in-Chief emphasizes.
The key to success lies precisely in active defense and initiative on the battlefield. This allows for exhausting the enemy, restoring positions, and inflicting maximum losses on the foe. Every day, the Russian army loses at least a thousand servicemen killed and wounded. This was emphasized during a working meeting following the results of the activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in April 2026
During the month, the Joint Fire Support performed over 64.9 thousand fire missions. Our artillerymen remain a significant factor on the battlefield, hitting 8.5 thousand enemy targets in a month, while missile units carried out 74 strikes against the adversary.
The AFU is also consistently increasing missile and drone pressure on the Russian Federation. Priority targets remain oil refining and fuel transportation facilities, production of specialized chemicals, gunpowder, and other enterprises of the Russian military-industrial complex.
In April alone, Deep Strike assets hit 84 targets deep within enemy territory. This is the result of high-quality coordination and interaction between all components of the Ukrainian Defense Forces.
In April, the volume of international military-technical assistance also increased. At the same time, Ukraine's own capabilities remain decisive, primarily in the repair, restoration, and return of equipment to service.
We are paying special attention to issues of mobilization and recruitment. We are working on implementing the initiative of the President of Ukraine regarding the gradual transition of the military from a mobilization-based to a contract-based recruitment model. Following the meeting, I set the task to prepare specific proposals from the General Staff regarding new formats of contract service
An instruction has also been developed and signed regarding the mandatory replacement of servicemen at forward positions – no later than after two months of stay, with an additional month for rotation.
