The Southern Bridge is completely closed, while partial restrictions are in place on the other crossings. The Darnytskyi Bridge is operating without restrictions.

The capital authorities have disclosed the “operating mode” of Kyiv’s bridges—where traffic is fully restricted during air-raid alerts, where it is partially restricted, and where it is not restricted, reports UNN.

Details

According to Petro Panteleiev, acting first deputy head of the Kyiv City State Administration, the current situation with traffic on the capital’s bridges across the Dnipro is as follows:

  • The Southern Bridge is currently completely closed to vehicular traffic in both directions. Today, expert conclusions from specialized research institutes are expected in response to a request from the Ministry for Infrastructure concerning the bridge’s further operation and the resumption of metro traffic across it;
    • traffic across the Metro Bridge from the left bank to the right bank is partially restricted during an air-raid alert;
      • traffic across Paton Bridge is permitted; however, during an air-raid alert, traffic from the right bank to the left bank is restricted;
        • The Northern Bridge operates without restrictions; however, during an air-raid alert, traffic from the right bank to the left bank is also restricted;
          • on the Podilskyi Bridge crossing, traffic from the right bank to the left bank is restricted during an air-raid alert, while the bridge continues to operate in a reversible-traffic mode;
            • The Darnytskyi Bridge operates without restrictions.

              According to Panteleiev, city services, together with the military, law enforcement agencies, and other authorities, continue to work on optimal traffic schemes and routes for city residents, municipal services, and other services. A meeting of the Kyiv Defense Council was held, following which the city sent its proposals to the central authorities.

              “The city is currently taking measures to adapt traffic and related processes of the city’s vital activities in view of the existing threats. The enemy is deliberately shelling the capital’s bridges connecting the left and right banks. We are taking into account private vehicle traffic volumes and the movement of public surface transport across the bridges,” he said.

              What does the police say?

              Later,  Oleksii Biloshytskyi, head of the Patrol Police Department, adjusted the capital authorities’ information on temporary traffic restrictions during an air-raid alert:

              🔹On the Southern Bridge — vehicular traffic is completely blocked from both banks;

              🔹On the Darnytskyi Bridge — vehicular traffic will proceed in one lane from the right bank to the left bank;

              🔹On the Metro Bridge — vehicular traffic is blocked from the left bank to the right bank;

              🔹On the Podilskyi–Voskresenskyi Bridge — vehicular traffic will be blocked from the left bank to the right bank.

              Please treat the implemented changes to the organization of traffic with understanding and take this information into account when planning your travel route

              - Biloshytskyi summarized.

              We would remind you

              As Kyiv Mayor Vitalii Klitschko reported earlier, military personnel, law enforcement officers, the State Emergency Service, and municipal services were heard during a meeting of the city’s Defense Council. They submitted proposals to ensure security while taking into account the need to preserve logistical transport connections between the left and right banks. The operation of the “green” metro line was also discussed. The Kyiv Metro is ready to resume traffic across the Southern Bridge during a yellow-level air-raid alert after receiving an expert opinion on the condition of the structure.
