A doctor on the military medical commission of one of Kharkiv's medical centers is suspected of organizing a scheme to arrange a fictitious pregnancy to discharge a female service member from service. According to the investigation, for an undue benefit, she promised to influence the decisions of medical institutions and members of the Military Medical Commission (VLC) and was detained while receiving the funds. This was reported by the Office of the Prosecutor General, according to UNN.

Under the procedural guidance of the Kharkiv Specialized Prosecutor's Office in the sphere of defense of the Eastern Region, a suspicion has been served to an obstetrician-gynecologist who is a member of the military medical commission of one of the region's military medical clinical centers,

- the statement reads.

According to the investigation, she offered the female service member to arrange documents for a non-existent pregnancy for money, in order to subsequently be discharged from service.

At the end of April 2026, the service member approached the doctor due to a suspected pregnancy. After the examination, the suspect informed her that there was no pregnancy, but offered to arrange fictitious medical documents. Initially, she demanded 3,000 USD, and later reduced the amount to 2,500 USD. For these funds, she promised to influence officials of medical institutions and members of the VLC to make the necessary decisions.

In May 2026, to confirm the fictitious pregnancy, the suspect sent the service member to a private medical center where, by prior agreement, an ultrasound report was issued indicating a pregnancy of 6–7 weeks without an actual examination. After this, the woman was sent to a municipal healthcare facility to be registered as pregnant.

On June 9, 2026, the doctor received 2,500 USD in undue benefit. After the transfer of funds, she was detained in accordance with Art. 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.

During the searches, money, mobile phones, medical documentation, forms, copies of ultrasound reports, and other evidence were seized.

At the request of the prosecutor, the court chose a preventive measure for the suspect — detention with the possibility of posting bail.

She is charged with receiving an undue benefit for influencing a decision by persons authorized to perform state functions (Part 3 of Art. 369-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The involvement of other officials from private and municipal medical institutions in Kharkiv in the commission of this criminal offense is currently being investigated.
