The leaders of the Group of Seven (G7) countries issued a statement on geopolitical issues. This was reported by UNN.
Details
The first section of the statement is titled "Ukraine." The signatories, in particular, note that they are "united in our unwavering support for Ukraine in defending its freedom, sovereignty, and territorial integrity."
"We reaffirm our solidarity with the Ukrainian people, who are suffering from attacks on their critical infrastructure and cultural heritage. We commend Ukraine's resilience and progress on the battlefield in recent months and emphasize that a new momentum is now emerging,"
It is stated that to maintain and accelerate this momentum, G7 leaders agree to "increase the supply of air defense capabilities, additional systems and interceptors, as well as long-range assets," and are also ready to consider the possibility of extending licenses to Ukraine to allow for an increase in Ukraine's military production.
"We emphasize the importance of energy resilience, based on the needs and priorities expressed by the Ukrainian authorities. We agree to provide further support to help the country get through the next winter,"
Furthermore, G7 leaders commit to increasing pressure on the Russian military economy.
"In this context, we will strengthen our sanctions, particularly regarding the oil and gas sector. We consider this an appropriate moment to take additional measures, as President (US Donald - ed.) Trump has concluded an agreement we support regarding the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz," the signatories concluded.
