Threatened an explosion in a building containing a bank
The incident began on Tuesday following a report of a bomb threat in a building housing a Chase bank branch. According to police officials, the man barricaded himself on the second floor and attached explosive devices to himself and some of the hostages.
Among those held were employees of the Kern County Superintendent of Schools office. Law enforcement noted that the attacker's motives are still being determined, and the school district leadership was not, preliminarily, his specific target.
