Andrius Kubilius became the first EU defense commissioner due to the threat from Russia. According to intelligence, Russia is increasing its weapons production and may be preparing to attack EU countries by 2030.

Russia has significantly increased its weapons production, producing more weapons in three months than the entire European defense industry can. Andrius Kubilius became the first EU defense commissioner to strengthen Europe's defense against the Russian threat. Referring to intelligence data, he suggests that Russia may be preparing for an offensive against European countries. This was reported by UNN with reference to RedaktionsNetzwerk Deutschland.

Kubilius warns that Russia has significantly increased its arms production despite the sanctions. According to experts, Russia produces more weapons in three months than the European defense industry can produce. And in six months, more weapons than the entire Bundeswehr has. In addition, Russia is increasing the production of tanks and keeping them in reserve, which is a cause for concern in NATO.

"Russia is preparing for a possible offensive against the EU countries by 2030," Kubilius said, citing intelligence data.

According to Kubilius, the EU should significantly increase the production of conventional weapons, such as artillery, armored vehicles and missiles. Particular attention should be paid to drones and electronic warfare, which are changing the course of modern warfare by giving full control over the battlefield.

"If our military says that we need a modern army of drones, then we have to support it," he said.

Germany, as the largest economy in the EU, should play a key role in the development of the European defense industry. Kubilius insists on the creation of a common plan that will determine what kind of weapons and in what quantities European countries should produce to meet NATO standards.

He also emphasized the need to locate defense production closer to potential conflict zones to ensure rapid repair and supply of weapons in the event of war.

Kubilius noted that the war in Ukraine demonstrates the crucial role of artillery, long-range missiles and drones. That is why Europe must draw conclusions and strengthen its own defense to be ready for a possible conflict with Russia.

"Our priority is to make Europe safer, to modernize military equipment and arms production. This will be an important step to prevent any aggressive actions by Russia," the Commissioner concluded.
