The Special Operations Forces of the AFU confirmed the strike on the Syzran Oil Refinery, UNN reports.
Deep-strike units of the SOF hit the Syzran Oil Refinery of the state company "Rosneft" in the Samara region. The operation was carried out on the night of May 21 jointly with the Unmanned Systems Forces (SBS) of the AFU,
At the facility with a capacity of up to 9 million tons of oil per year, located more than 800 kilometers from the border of Ukraine, a "large-scale fire was recorded," as stated.
"Black smoke, a white glow, and red flames — an authentic ornament from Ukrainians on Vyshyvanka Day was donned by the next, already the eleventh during May, of Putin's oil tankers. The Syzran refinery in the Samara region dressed up festively in a pattern from the Freedom-Loving Ukrainian Bird, stitched with a fiery red cross," — stated also the commander of the SBS of the AFU, Robert "Madyar" Brovdi, on social media.
The Syzran Oil Refinery, in addition to civilian needs, as noted by the SOF, provides fuel for Russian military aviation and military units in the center and south of the Russian Federation. Also, petroleum products are exported from there via the Volga River and the Caspian Sea.
"Strikes on the enemy's oil refining infrastructure reduce its economic and logistical capabilities to wage war against Ukraine," the SBS indicated.
