In the Hungarian capital, a performance by Russian violinist Vadim Repin, who was scheduled to participate in the opening of the new concert season of the Hungarian National Philharmonic Orchestra, has been canceled. This decision was achieved thanks to the efforts of the Embassy of Ukraine in Hungary. This was reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, according to UNN.
Details
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Repin was supposed to be the main star of the season's opening concert; however, the organizers changed the program. His participation was canceled, and the soloist's part was performed by a Hungarian violinist.
The concert took place on the stage of the Margaret Island Open-Air Theatre (Margitszigeti Színház) – one of the most famous summer cultural venues in Hungary and Central-Eastern Europe. The theater is located in the center of Budapest on Margaret Island and hosts dozens of cultural events annually featuring Hungarian and foreign performers.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that Ukrainian diplomacy continues to work on limiting the presence of representatives of the Russian cultural sphere on international stages.
Russian culture is a culture of genocide and war crimes, which should have no place on international platforms. Ukrainian diplomacy will continue to work consistently on isolating representatives of the Russian cultural space within the global cultural industry,
