China today said that the new aid package seriously violates the "one-China principle" and the provisions of the joint communiqués between the People's Republic of China and the United States.
The Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman added that the country will take "all necessary measures" to protect its sovereignty and territorial integrity. The Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs also called Taiwan a "red line that cannot be crossed" in Sino-US relations.
Reuters reminded that Beijing considers democratically governed Taiwan to be its territory, but the government in Taipei rejects this claim.
