Burnham said that London would continue its diplomatic and military support for Kyiv. According to him, Russia should have no doubt about the United Kingdom’s determination to support Ukraine until a just and lasting peace is achieved.

One of the main topics of the meeting will be strengthening Ukraine’s air defenses. Burnham is expected to help persuade European countries and the United States to provide Ukraine with additional Patriot interceptor missiles ahead of winter.

At the same time, Britain will allow defense company MBDA to share secret information about British components of SCALP missiles with France and Ukraine. This is intended to help implement a plan to assemble these missiles in Ukraine as early as the end of 2026.

Burnham’s visit comes amid an intensification of Russian attacks on Ukraine and a rising number of civilian casualties. Bloomberg notes that for the new British prime minister, the trip to Kyiv will also be an important test of his role on the international stage.
