The United Kingdom will host an international meeting with the participation of 35 countries to discuss the situation around the Strait of Hormuz. This was reported by Politico, according to UNN.
According to the country's Prime Minister Keir Starmer, the summit will take place on Thursday in a video conference format. It will be organized by Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper.
The meeting is dedicated to finding ways to unblock the strategically important sea route, which has effectively come under Iranian control.
"We will assess all possible diplomatic and political steps to restore freedom of navigation, ensure the safety of ships and sailors, and restore the supply of critical goods,"
According to him, in parallel, Britain also plans to gather military experts to analyze possible actions to ensure the security of the strait after the end of hostilities.
The meeting will be attended by countries that previously supported a joint statement on the need to guarantee safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz. These include the UAE, France, Germany, Italy, and the Netherlands.
The Strait of Hormuz is one of the key routes for global energy trade, and its blockade is already affecting global markets.

Earlier, Trump stated on Truth Social that the Iranian president had requested a ceasefire.
But he said Washington would not "consider" the alleged request until the Strait of Hormuz was reopened.
The US will ignore the alleged ceasefire request and will continue to "destroy Iran into oblivion" until the strait is "open, free, and clear," Trump said.
