Details

They have more pensioners than workers. They don't import anything. They are xenophobic - no one else comes here. They have real problems

- said the head of the White House.

Biden also called for higher tariffs on Chinese steel and aluminum, part of a series of steps to support the US steel sector.

Separately, the US president emphasized that he will continue efforts to deny China advanced technologies, such as computer chips.

They cannot be sent to China, because it will undermine our national security... When I talked to Xi Jinping, he asked me why? And I answered: "Because you will misuse them, so you won't get these advanced computer chips

- Joe Biden is sure.

China's position

During his daily briefing, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian reacted quite calmly to Biden's words. In a conversation with journalists, he said that economic issues should be addressed to the competent Chinese authorities.

He also noted that Beijing had asked the United States to respect the principle of fair competition, comply with WTO rules, and immediately cancel all trade protectionist measures against China.

Regarding the comments you mentioned (accusing China of xenophobia - ed.), we have only one question for the United States: are these words about China or about the United States itself?

- said a spokesman for the Chinese Foreign Ministry.

Recall

Next week, U.S. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken will travel to Chinato discuss China's support for Russia in its war against Ukraine and China's aggressive actions against the Philippines in the South China Sea.
