The trip is intended to demonstrate Belgium's support for Ukraine three years after the start of the large-scale invasion launched by Russia.
UNN reports with reference to La Libre Belgique, RTBF and Maxime Prevot's page on the X network.
Details
On Tuesday morning, three members of the Belgian government arrived in Kyiv by train: Prime Minister Bart de Wever and Foreign and Defense Ministers Maxime Prevot and Theo Franken. Ukrainian officials met the guests in the capital of Ukraine.
This is a mission of solidarity, hope and unwavering support for a generation of Ukrainians fighting for their freedom and their future.
Representatives of the Belgian government are accompanied by a dozen heads of companies in the Belgian defense industry.
On his social media page, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belgium outlined the main list according to the purpose of the officials' arrival in Ukraine:
Our first stop: Bucha. A name that has become synonymous with horror and resilience. Three years ago, Bucha was liberated from Russian occupation. What Ukrainian forces and international investigators found was horrifying: mass graves, bodies of civilians, women, children, the elderly with traces of torture and execution. Tied hands. Shot at close range. Burned. Mutilated. - he noted.
Prevot emphasized:
Today we honor the dead. We support the survivors. And we reaffirm this: Belgium stands shoulder to shoulder with Ukraine. Justice must prevail. And we will not look away.
The official also added that the visit of Belgian representatives is "About truth. About memory. About a future where Ukraine will be free, sovereign and European."
Regarding cooperation in the field of defense:
As noted, about 10 representatives of Belgian industries are on the trip. They are to meet with the heads of Ukrainian companies.

In January 2024, Belgian industrialists, accompanied by a member of the General Staff, already traveled to Kyiv to sign a memorandum of cooperation on defense issues. Ukraine is seeking support from its allies in this area not only through direct deliveries of equipment, but also through partnerships with European companies, RTBF writes.
It is indicated that significant production facilities have been created in three years.
In January last year, during a visit to the Chamber, Ukrainian deputies called on Belgium to follow the movement already launched by the United States, Canada and Denmark, directly financing military production at factories in Ukraine, whether drones, missiles, mortars or air defense systems. The amount of military aid to Ukraine for the past legislative period reached EUR 1.21 billion.
We will remind
The President of the European Commission and the head of the European Council arrived by train to Kyiv on February 24. They were met by representatives of the Presidential Office, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ukrzaliznytsia to discuss the security and future of Ukraine.
