President Zelenskyy thanked the EU for setting up a €5 billion fund to support Ukraine's defense efforts this year.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy thanked the European community and the EU leadership for establishing the Ukraine Assistance Fund. He assured that the allocated 5 billion euros of aid will be used to support Ukrainian defense. Zelensky said this in his evening video address, UNN reports.
Today, I would like to thank the leadership of the European Union and all member states for establishing a new Fund to assist Ukraine within the European Peace Fund. The amount is 5 billion euros, which will be used to support our defense efforts this year.

The Ukrainian President also added that he expects the Ukraine Assistance Fund to become part of a general security agreement between Ukraine and the EU.

On March 18, the EU Council at the level of the bloc's foreign ministers, attended by Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba, made the final decision to allocate an additional 5 billion euros for military support to Ukraine under the European Peace Fund.
