Ukraine continues substantive cooperation with the countries of the Middle East and the Gulf in the fields of security, protection of critical infrastructure, and countering common threats. This was stated on April 1 by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, as reported by UNN.
Details
According to him, the situation in the region is of global significance, as it affects world markets, the cost of living, and the security situation in various countries.
Zelenskyy emphasized that the war increases the danger of modern weapons, so Ukraine's goal is to expand cooperation to strengthen collective security.
We continue to work with the states of the Middle East and the Gulf. The situation in this region is of global significance, and this is reflected in world markets, in the cost of living in all countries without exception, as well as in technological challenges that cannot be left without a proper response. War makes weapons more dangerous. Our goal is more collective security
According to the head of state, as of today, Ukraine is already substantively cooperating with Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Qatar. Work is also ongoing with Jordan, and communication is being maintained with Bahrain, Kuwait, and Iraq.
On cooperation between Kyiv and Ankara
Separately, Zelenskyy reported that Secretary of the NSDC Rustem Umerov reported on planned work with countries outside the Middle East, in particular with Turkey and other states that have significant potential.
In addition, Umerov also continues political contacts with partners who are under attack from the Iranian regime.
On the protection of critical infrastructure
The President thanked the states and partners who coordinate efforts to protect the civilian population and critical infrastructure.
We in Ukraine are grateful to everyone in the world who works exactly like this – joining efforts to protect people and critical infrastructure. Our military expertise is already yielding results. Our interceptors are already yielding results. We already have several long-term agreements on cooperation and mutual reinforcement and are preparing new solutions
On military threats
Zelenskyy also emphasized that the threat from Iranian drones and missiles is comparable to the one Ukraine faces in Europe while defending against Russian strikes.
According to the president, the blocking of normal navigation in the Strait of Hormuz is a challenge similar to the one Ukraine faced in 2022, when Russia tried to block Ukrainian ports and access to the sea.
Iranian "Shaheds" and missiles are effectively the same threat we face in Europe when we defend ourselves against Russian "Shaheds" and missiles. The blocking of normal navigation in the Strait of Hormuz is effectively the same challenge we in Ukraine faced in 2022, when Russia tried to block our ports and access to the sea – only on a more dangerous scale
Zelenskyy added that no country should be left alone with terrorist attacks, and only coordinated international interaction can help protect people's lives and restore stability.
No nation should be left alone with terrorist attacks. I thank everyone who does not waste time, coordinates, and develops formats for reliably guaranteeing collective security. Only conscientious interaction will make it possible to protect lives and restore stability
