Zelenskyy revealed first results of investigation into explosion at warehouses in Vyshneve: heads of two state enterprises acted contrary to law and decision of Staff

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported the first results of the inspection after the explosion at weapons depots and a fire caused by a Russian missile strike in Vyshneve, stating that the heads of two state enterprises acted contrary to the law and the decision of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief's Staff, writes UNN.

"Just now there were detailed reports on the situation in the city of Vyshneve – after the explosion at the depots and the fire from the strike of Russian missiles. The Security Service of Ukraine and the Office of the Prosecutor General, within the framework of criminal proceedings, are checking all the circumstances of the tragedy. Today, SBU Major General Poklad reported the first results: who and in what positions in Ukroboronprom allowed, unfortunately, that weapons depots were in Vyshneve. A direct prohibition of this – both by legal norms and by the decision of the Staff – all of this was violated. Specific officials are known, and the state's position is that each of them must be brought to fair responsibility," Zelenskyy stated in his traditional evening address on Saturday.

The President emphasized: "We all understand what wartime is, and every leader must feel that people's lives depend on their decisions or inaction."

"The heads of two state enterprises acted contrary to the law, contrary to the decision of the Staff and their job descriptions. The investigation is checking the activities of deputy heads who were responsible for security. There are also other officials whose actions and decisions will also be analyzed," 

The Security Service of Ukraine, together with other law enforcement officers, in his words, "must also check other similar enterprises, and every head of enterprises at their level must guarantee that such tragedies are not repeated." "There are proper places in Ukraine to store weapons and store ammunition – this is all determined so that there are no residential buildings nearby. And the restoration of what was destroyed must happen faster, this applies not only to Vyshneve. Of course, a lot depends on the quality of work in communities and in the regions, but there is also something to fix at the government level. Decisions will be made in the near future," he noted.

"Today we also spoke in great detail about the future of Ukroboronprom. The structure is large, it includes dozens of enterprises, one of which placed that depot in Vyshneve. Of course, the internal processes within the Ukroboronprom structure regarding control over the activities of enterprises and directors must be stronger," the President noted.
