With the chevron of the Armed Forces of Ukraine: NBU mints commemorative coin "Year of the Dragon"

The National Bank of Ukraine has issued a new 5 hryvnia coin with a dragon image for 2024, which also honors the Armed Forces with a chevron symbol. The coin was put into circulation on November 24, 2023 with a mintage of 80,000 pieces.
The National Bank of Ukraine has launched a new coin with a dragon, which is a symbol of the year 2024, and a dedication to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the NBU press service reports, UNN reports.
Details
The NBU emphasizes that 2024 is primarily a year of continuing struggle, heroism, and courage of the Ukrainian military. That is why the new commemorative coin "Year of the Dragon" will also contain the chevron of the Armed Forces of Ukraine as a symbol of the courage and strength of our defenders.
The reverse of the new coin features a stylized symbol of the Eastern calendar for 2024 - a dragon. To the right of the dragon is the chevron of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The obverse features 12 symbols of the Eastern calendar in a circle, with a stylized clock in the center of the circle with an arrow pointing to the dragon.
The Year of the Dragon commemorative coin was put into circulation on November 24, 2023. Its face value is 5 hryvnias. The mintage is 80 thousand pieces in souvenir packaging.

A total of 40 thousand coins will be sold through the online store, the first 15 thousand coins will be available for purchase on the day of its release. Each user of the online store can subscribe to the newsletter on the website to conveniently and in advance receive information about the replenishment of the range of numismatic products.
In addition, the coin will gradually be sold by distributor banks (JSC JSB UKRGASBANK, JSC JSB RADABANK, JSC TASKOMBANK, JSC CB PrivatBank) as it is shipped by the NBU Mint.

Deputy Governor of the NBU Oleksiy Shaban said that the National Bank of Ukraine plans to redesign the 1 and 2 hryvnia coins to make them less similar.
