SBI officers served a notice of suspicion to former member of the State Duma of the 6th convocation, Magomed Hajiyev, who in 2014 supported the decision to illegally annex Crimea to Russia .

According to law enforcement officials, Hajiyev voted in favor of the law of the Russian Federation "On Ratification of the Agreement between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Crimea on the Admission of the Republic of Crimea to the Russian Federation and the Formation of New Subjects within the Russian Federation".

Thus, he committed intentional actions to change the boundaries of the territory and state border of Ukraine in violation of the procedure established by the Constitution of Ukraine, the SBI added.

The defendant is suspected of encroachment on the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine (Part 1 of Article 110 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The sanction of the article provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for up to 5 years with confiscation of property.
