The Ministry of Health has approved updated recommendations for coronavirus vaccination. For most people, one vaccination is enough, and revaccination in 6-12 months is recommended only for high-risk groups.

The Ministry of Health has approved updated recommendations for vaccination against coronavirus. Vaccination schemes for the population are being simplified. UNN reports this with reference to the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.

Updated recommendations for vaccination against coronavirus have been approved. Vaccination schemes for the population are being simplified: for most people, one vaccination against COVID-19 is enough. For people who are at risk of severe COVID-19, more doses are provided - that is, revaccination in 6-12 months

- the statement said.

It is reported that the definition of vaccination stages is also changing for doctors and patients:

  • One shot (*or two shots for certain groups) is the primary vaccination.
  • All subsequent vaccinations are revaccinations against COVID-19.
  • All subsequent vaccinations are revaccinations against COVID-19.

Revaccination is recommended after 6-12 months not for everyone, but for people at risk:

  • adults and children with weakened immune systems or concomitant or severe chronic diseases;
  • pregnant women;
  • people over 60 years old;
  • adults and children who are at risk of severe illness and death due to coronavirus infection
  • representatives of professional risk groups (e.g., doctors, teachers, military, etc.).

The need for revaccination is determined by the doctor, taking into account the recommendations approved by the Ministry of Health. People who have completed the basic vaccination course in previous years (*two or three vaccinations, depending on the vaccine) and received the 4th or 5th booster vaccination last year can continue to be vaccinated free of charge

- the Ministry of Health informs.

The Ministry of Health also notes that the updated recommendations of the NTGEE were approved by the order of the Ministry of Health of August 5, 2024, No. 1380 and comply with the latest global recommendations for vaccination against COVID-19 of the World Health Organization (World Health Organization Ukraine).

In addition, the Ministry of Health reports that the main goal of vaccination and revaccination against COVID-19 remains the prevention of severe cases of COVID-19 and complications of coronavirus infection.

The Ministry of Health, together with the National Research Institute for Geosciences and Environmental Protection, emphasizes the importance of vaccinating against COVID-19 for previously unvaccinated persons who are at risk of severe COVID-19 or by occupation (people 60+, pregnant women, people with chronic diseases, representatives of occupational risk groups, such as doctors, teachers, military personnel, etc.
