URC 2026 donor conference starts in Gdańsk with a focus on Ukraine's recovery

The Ukraine Recovery Conference (URC 2026) begins today in the city of Gdańsk, Poland, as stated on the event's website, reports UNN.

Details

The event will take place on June 25-26, 2026, jointly organized by the Republic of Poland and Ukraine, against the backdrop of recent tensions between the countries over the situation with the Polish order.

The Ukrainian delegation will be led by Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko, while the co-chair from Poland is the country's Prime Minister Donald Tusk, not the respective presidents Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Karol Nawrocki.

Participation in the event has been confirmed by the heads of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen. In particular, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, writes dpa, will also visit Gdańsk.

As the organizers report, "the goal of URC 2026 is to strengthen international support for the country's reconstruction, as well as to stimulate investment in Ukrainian business."

The event is expected to focus on sectors most affected by Russian aggression: energy, critical infrastructure, and logistics.

The conference, according to the report, will also "strengthen the focus on enhancing Ukraine's security capabilities, including a new security dimension proposed by the Republic of Poland, which will become a new component of URC 2026 in Gdańsk." Strengthening Ukraine's defense capabilities is seen as a necessary prerequisite for broader reconstruction and long-term development.

As a high-level platform for promoting investment, URC, as stated, will bring together international, sovereign, and private investors with the aim of accelerating deal-making and building foundations for long-term economic transformation.

URC 2026 is expected to bring together a wide range of participants, including heads of state and government, representatives of partner country governments, members of national parliaments, international organizations and financial institutions, business leaders, local government bodies, and civil society organizations.

Speaking ahead of the two-day conference in Gdańsk, Tusk, as dpa notes, mentioned 200 contracts worth billions of euros for reconstruction.
