Ukrainian Army receives seized trucks from Prosecutor General's Office

The Ukrainian authorities confiscated trucks from an illegal sand mining group and handed them over to the military; environmental damage is estimated at 118 million hryvnias.

Two trucks were delivered to a military unit of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Specialized environmental Prosecutor's Office and National Police investigators. This was reported in the Prosecutor General's Office, UNN reports.

It is noted that the special equipment was seized and arrested by law enforcement officers as part of a pre-trial investigation of criminal proceedings on the fact of illegal mining of minerals.

It was established that with the help of trucks an organized criminal group had been illegally mining sand for a long time on agricultural land in one of the regions of Ukraine.

У more than 160 thousand tons of sand were illegally extracted. The damage caused to the environment amounted to UAH 118 million. Currently, five members of the criminal have been notified of suspicion. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing

Prosecutors filed a civil lawsuit in the interests of the territorial community, and also seized the property of the of the suspects.
