Ukraine has implemented measures to unblock the border with Poland, which were agreed upon during trilateral meetings. This was announced by Deputy Minister of Development of Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Serhiy Derkach on the air of the telethon "United News", UNN reports.
We can already see progress today, as a new checkpoint, Uhryniv-Dolhobychuv, has been opened. In addition, according to our latest agreements with the European Commission and the Polish government, we have developed a number of measures that should actually satisfy the protesters today and stop the protest. In fact, these measures have all been implemented. The Uhryniv-Dolhobychuv checkpoint has been opened, and we are technically ready to open new lanes for empty vehicles in the electronic queue system (eCheck) - something we also promised to do, and this opening is possible only when the border is actually opened
He added that today there was a meeting of the Council on Transport, Trade, Energy in the European Commission, "which ... considered the issue of blocking the border. The majority of EU states were in favor of supporting Ukraine."
"In fact, every country condemned these protests, (...) there were, let's say, such loud statements from some EU countries and the European Commission about taking immediate measures to the Polish government to stop this blockade, well, and then to continue talking about the necessary measures to regulate the freight market," Derkach said.
In addition, the deputy minister emphasized that the issue of returning the permits - one of the demands of Polish carriers - "we are not even discussing."
