The Government of Ukraine has approved a resolution on the establishment of the State Information System for Hematopoietic Stem
Cell Transplantation aimed at improving the efficiency of transplantation and donor selection. Despite the ongoing war,
transplantation, including stem cell transplantation, is expanding: more transplants were performed in the first 9 months of 2023
than in the entire year of 2022.
The Government approved a resolution on the approval of the regulation on
State Information System of Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation. This was reported by the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, UNN reports.
Details
Stem cell transplantation may be required for three types of
diseases:
hematologic. For example, acute leukemia, multiple myeloma,
plasma cell leukemia, Hodgkin's lymphoma, non-Hodgkin's lymphoma;
non-hematologic. For example, L amyloidosis or POEMS syndrome;
autoimmune.
It is noted that the most important thing in the search for a stem cell donor is the speed of
of determining cellular relatedness. The functionality of the system will allow
in the future, to search and form a donor-recipient pair more quickly, quickly
exchange information and documents with other information systems.
Thus, after filling the system with information about "biological
passports" (or the results of examinations) of potential hematopoietic
stem cells, the number of people who will be provided with medical
medical care with this method of treatment.
It will include a register of potential donors
of hematopoietic stem cells. The procedure and conditions for filling the
the registry, its functioning, access to information and data.
Despite the full-scale war, the transplantation industry is actively developing. In Ukraine, kidneys, liver, heart, lungs, and pancreas are transplanted аnd pancreas. The number of hematopoietic stem cell transplants is also growing.
In the first 9 months of 2023, more transplants were performed than in the whole of 2022: 251
transplants this year and 223 in the previous year. We have done a lot, and We have done a lot and still have a lot to do. Today, we have made another step forward - the government has approved the regulations
on the State Information System of Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation.
of Hematopoietic Stem Cells Transplantation. The greater the number of registered potential donors, the greater
chances for patients to recover. However, for the system to work,
it is also important to develop a culture of bone marrow donation. The bone marrow
from a donor is fully restored within a few weeks. Meanwhile, someone's
life remains saved
In addition, the implementation of this measure is provided for by the
