Details

It should be noted that the #WorthDoingYourWay contest was held in 2023 with the support of the MHP-Hromada Charitable Foundation and the Ukrainian Veterans Fund. Winning the contest helped Olefirenko realize her long-held dream of starting a farm.

Olga was inspired to start her own farming business by her father, the commander of the 73rd Marine Special Forces Center Yuri Olefirenko. He was seriously wounded on January 16, 2015 near Mariupol, during a reconnaissance operation to detect enemy positions and adjust artillery fire. Yuriy Olefirenko was awarded the badge of Distinction "people's hero of Ukraine" (posthumously).

After the death of Yuri, the family was allocated a plot of land for farming. Olga decided to build a pig breeding facility on this land, because her father dreamed of farming and working near the land.

The current BBC ranking of the most influential women includes two Ukrainian women: Olefirenko and Olga Rudneva, founder of The Superhumans Center.

BBC 100 women

Every year, the BBC publishes a ranking of the 100 Most Influential Women in the world who inspired and changed it.

The project team compiled a short list of names that they collected themselves and which were suggested by journalists of 41 BBC Broadcasting Services.

The BBC scales both famous women who have been written about by the media, and those who have not made it to the news, but have achieved something important and are changing their society.

This year's list includes Nobel Peace Prize winner Nadia Murad, rape activist Gisele Pelico, actress Sharon Stone, Olympic Athletes Rebecca Andrade and Allison Felix, singer Ray, artist Tracy Emin, climate activist Adenike Olados and writer Christina Rivera Garza.

Last year, the project noted three Ukrainian women. These are climate policy adviser Irina Savchuk, writer Oksana Zabuzhko and children's rights defender Elena Rozvadovskaya.
