USAID is providing Ukraine with 20,000 tons of metal for the construction of protective structures at energy facilities. The rolled metal is provided free of charge, which facilitates the rapid construction of protective structures for energy infrastructure.

The American Agency for International Development (USAID) will provide Ukraine with 20,000 tons of metal for the construction of structures for the protection of energy facilities. This was reported by the State Agency for Reconstruction and Development of Infrastructure of Ukraine, UNN reports.

Details

The agency noted that the US government, through USAID, is funding Ukraine's energy security project, according to which the country has already received the first batch of 5,000 tons of metal, which is used to build anti-drone defenses in the western, central, and southern regions.

The State Agency for Infrastructure Restoration and Development notes that rebar is the most expensive material in the project.

The percentage of rebar in the project is one of the largest in terms of volume and cost. We receive the metal as charity. This is an important contribution to the protection of Ukraine's energy infrastructure and the rapid construction of protective structures

- said Valeria Ivanova, Deputy Head of the Recovery Agency.

Supplement

The project to provide metal for construction is being implemented by Tetra Tech ES, a USAID contractor under a previously signed memorandum of understanding.

The agency notes that the company purchases metal from a Ukrainian manufacturer, after which it is transported to the construction site, where the first batch is already being used.
