The counterintelligence of the SBU and fighters of the 3rd Army Corps of the Armed Forces of Ukraine detained a Russian agent who was adjusting enemy strikes on the defenders of the city of Lyman in Donetsk region. This is reported by UNN with reference to the press center of the Security Service of Ukraine.
Details
According to the investigation, a local unemployed resident was recruited by the Russians back during the occupation of the city of Lyman. Moreover, he did not hide his pro-Russian views.
The suspect directed Russian means of destruction at the positions of Ukrainian troops. This refers to heavy guided aerial bombs, attack drones, barrel and rocket artillery, as well as flamethrower systems of the "Solntsepek" type.
With the help of combined shelling, Russian assault groups hoped to break through towards the frontline city with the aim of its further capture
The man was detained "red-handed" near the front line in the so-called "kill zone" when he was photographing the positions of the Third Army Corps. During a search, a smartphone with evidence of his work for Russian special services was seized from him.
The detainee was notified of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (high treason committed under martial law).
He is currently in custody without the right to bail. He faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
