The number of people wishing to cross the border on the weekend before Christmas increased significantly: where are the longest queues
Kyiv • UNN
Before Christmas, border traffic increased, with the longest queues at the border with Poland.
Passenger traffic at the border increased significantly on the weekend before Christmas, reaching a significant 140,000 per day on Saturday, with the longest queues at the border with Poland. This was reported on Monday during a telethon by the spokesman for the State Border Guard Service, Andriy Demchenko, UNN reports.
Passenger traffic has increased significantly. There were queues because the number of people wishing to cross the border both to leave Ukraine and to enter it has increased. And I can say that if we compare even the previous year, we have such a significant increase up to 140 thousand people who crossed the border per day. This figure was on Saturday. Last year, the highest number of people crossing the border was 120 thousand people per day. Over the past two days, 30 thousand more people crossed the border to enter Ukraine than to leave. The previous day, Sunday, was also marked by a large number of border crossings, although there was a slight decrease - about 111 thousand people crossed the border in both directions
According to him, "50% of the total passenger traffic was on the border with Poland, both before and over the past week." "And the longest queues, both for leaving Ukraine and for entering, were observed on this section of the border," Demchenko said.
