The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has codified and authorized a new medical armored vehicle "Kozak-5MED" for use in the Armed Forces. This was reported by UNN with reference to the Ministry of Defense.

Details

It is noted that the armored vehicle is designed to evacuate wounded and injured soldiers from the battlefield.

The Ministry of Defense said that Kozak-5MED is based on the chassis of the American heavy pickup truck Ford F-550 and can transport four lying wounded or six in a sitting position, in addition to the driver and medical evacuation team personnel.

The car is equipped with a diesel engine with a capacity of more than 330 horsepower and an automatic transmission.

The armor of the ambulance protects the crew and passengers from 7.62 mm fragments and bullets. In addition, the bottom of the armored vehicle has reinforced protection that can withstand an explosion equivalent to 6 kg of TNT.

Currently, Ukrainian Defense Forces medics use different vehicles for evacuation depending on the situation. Among them are Soviet MT-LB tracked vehicles modified for medical needs, British FV104 Samaritan, specialized Bohdan pickup trucks, American HMMWV M1152, as well as various brands of ATVs and hexacycles
