Event details
The competitions were dedicated to the memory of Igor Voevodin, a sniper of the 12th Special Purpose Brigade "Azov", known by the call sign "Stich". Participants from different regions of Ukraine - both young athletes and experienced fighters - competed in the "combat duathlon" discipline. They honored the memory of the fallen hero with their strength of spirit, endurance and sportsmanship.
"The event is attended by 15 regions of Ukraine, more than 450 participants," said Andriy Yaroshevsky, president of the NGO "All-Ukrainian Federation of Military and Sports All-Around", Honored Coach of Ukraine and Honored Worker of Physical Culture and Sports.
Military-sports all-around has deep roots in Ukraine - this sport was founded in the late 1990s. Although it is not included in the Olympic program, the winners of all-Ukrainian competitions have the opportunity to represent Ukraine at the international level.
"This championship is a qualifying round for the national team. The winners will go to the World Championship," added Yaroshevsky.
The event was held within the framework of the "MHP Next to You" program to support military personnel, veterans and their families.
"Our "MHP Next to You" program provides individual support and comprehensive support to families of military personnel and veterans. We provide psychological, legal, social assistance and conduct reintegration activities," said Olha Zayets, MHP's coordinator for interaction with military personnel and veterans.
Months of training not only strengthen athletes' physical fitness, but also build mental endurance.
"Today, this is an extremely relevant sport for the development of patriotic education of young people," emphasized Oleksandr Fedoryshyn, head of the Kyiv branch of the federation.
Young people find practical applications in this sport:
"You can overcome fear - on the street, at school, when someone touches you. You can fight back," shared athlete Nikita Baranov.
