"An increase in the incidence of COVID-19 is being recorded in the capital," Valentyna Ginzburg, director of the KCSA Health Department, was quoted as saying in KCSA.

According to the data, while in June there were 199 laboratory-confirmed cases of coronavirus in Kyiv, and 1,660 in July and early August, 1,283 people, including 174 children, fell ill in the second week of August.

"Accordingly, the number of hospitalized people is growing, including patients who need a ventilator," the report says.

The director of the department notes that most people have no significant complications.

"However, this also has its dangers. A patient who does not suffer too much from the symptoms "writes them off" as fatigue, a common cold, even allergic reactions due to ragweed blooms, for example. Therefore, they continue to live a socially active life, work, and thus spread COVID," Ginzburg warned.

She called for a conscious attitude to one's health and epidemic safety. Use protective masks, hand sanitizers, avoid crowded places and contact with people with cold symptoms, keep your distance in crowded places, etc.
