Chief of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine Kyrylo Budanov called the murder of Iryna Farion a challenge for Ukrainian society. He emphasized that the enemy seeks to divide the nation and called for the protection of the right to one's own beliefs.
Chief of the Main Intelligence Directorate Kyrylo Budanov commented on the murder of linguist Iryna Farion, noting that the tragedy once again demonstrated that the enemy seeks to use any tools to divide our nation, UNN reports .

Today, Ukraine said goodbye to public figure and scholar Iryna Farion. The cold-blooded murder of the famous linguist is a challenge for the entire Ukrainian society, a crime against the fundamental rights and freedoms of Ukrainians. This tragedy has once again demonstrated that the enemy is seeking to use any tools to divide our nation. Therefore, we have no right to forget that despite our differences in political positions, the right to an opinion and the right to defend our beliefs is sacred
He added that the right to defend one's beliefs is the foundation of our freedom, and anyone who encroaches on it must be punished.
Iryna Farion died for the Ukrainian position. We have no right to tolerate such crimes and will continue to defend Ukraine both at the front and inside our country

On July 19, an unidentified person shot at Iryna Farion, a linguist and professor at Lviv Polytechnic. The woman was taken to the hospital with a head wound in an extremely serious condition. Iryna Farion died in the hospital .
The police have several versions of the murder of linguist Irina Farion, including public and political activities and personal animosity. Law enforcement officers found a shell casing after the shooting and do not rule out a "Russian trace" in the crime.
Today in Lviv, the funeral service of Iryna Farion was held in the Garrison Church of Lviv . Relatives, colleagues, party members and supporters from different cities of Ukraine came to say goodbye to the linguist.
