Sweden will allocate 30 million euros to support a Czech initiative to buy artillery ammunition for Ukraine.
Sweden intends to support the Czech initiative to supply artillery shells to Ukraine by allocating 30 million euros. This UNN reports with reference to the country's parliament.
Defense Minister Paul Johnson said that Ukraine's need for ammunition is great, especially artillery ammunition.
"The government has today decided that the Defense Equipment Directorate (FMV) can negotiate and conclude an agreement with the responsible authority of the Czech Republic on financial support for ammunition purchases to Ukraine. Sweden intends to support the Czech Republic with 30 million euros in this initiative," the statement said.
It is reported that the contribution is financed within the framework of the 15th support package in the part that refers to support in the form of financial contributions to foundations and a number of bilateral and multilateral charitable projects that EU and NATO countries have established to support Ukraine.
The 15th support package is pending in the Riksdag (parliament) and Sweden's contribution to the Czech initiative requires the Riksdag to vote in favor of the government's proposal for further budget amendments.
