The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine met with Cardinal Pietro Parolin. They discussed Zelenskyy's Peace Formula, the return of deported children and prisoners of war, and the creation of a medical commission.

He emphasized the importance of his arrival in Ukraine at a difficult time of its struggle against Russian aggression. We perceive Pietro Parolin's visit as a manifestation of support and solidarity with the Ukrainian people and their heroic struggle for freedom and independence. He also thanked the Holy See for the humanitarian aid that has been coming through various channels since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion.
He also thanked the Vatican representative for participating in the Global Peace Summit. According to him, the summit was the first important step in the ongoing process of restoring a just peace.
The parties also discussed the importance of implementing President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's Peace Formula.
Considerable attention was paid to the issue of returning deported Ukrainian children and prisoners. He emphasized that Ukraine creates proper conditions for Russian prisoners of war, unlike Russia. The Ukrainian citizens who were returned were subjected to torture and ill-treatment in Russian captivity
He also emphasized that Russia does not agree to the creation of a Mixed Medical Commission to objectively determine the medical condition of Ukrainian prisoners of war.
Stefanchuk called on the Holy See to make every effort to change the position of the Russian Federation on the issue of creating an appropriate medical commission.
