A 36-year-old serviceman was served a notice of suspicion in the murder of a 25-year-old border guard in a Ternopil hotel. The suspect fired 7 shots out of jealousy of his wife, and faces 7 to 15 years in prison.

Law enforcement officers have served a notice of suspicion to a 36-year-old serviceman who  shot and killed a 25-year-old border guard in a Ternopil hotel because of jealousy for his wife. This was reported by the Specialized Prosecutor's Office in the field of defense of the Western region, UNN reports.

Under the procedural supervision of the Ternopil Specialized Defense Prosecutor's Office of the Western Region, a 36-year-old serviceman of a military unit was served a notice of suspicion of premeditated murder (Part 1 Art. 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine)

- the special prosecutor's office said in a statement.

According to the investigation, the officer learned about his wife's possible close relationship with the Border Guard Service serviceman and came to visit him in a hotel in Ternopil.

During the conflict, which arose out of jealousy, the suspect pulled out a pistol from his holster and fired seven shots at the 25-year-old border guard, killing him.

At that time, the suspect's wife was at home with the children.

Following the incident, the soldier was detained in accordance with Article 208 of the CPC of Ukraine. The issue of choosing a measure of restraint in the form of detention is currently being decided.

He faces 7 to 15 years in prison.
