"From my point of view, a ceasefire that includes a capitulation is something that we should never support from Germany," Scholz said in the Bundestag (lower house of parliament), answering a question from a left-wing MP about the possibility of a truce in Ukraine.
Scholz clarified that this is not an "abstract issue," as evidenced by the fact that Russian President Vladimir Putin recently made a "strange peace proposal.
"You can see his cynical thinking in this," condemned the chancellor, who said that despite his words, Putin has no intention of ending the war.
In addition, he reaffirmed his commitment that as long as he is in charge, Germany "will not become part of the war.
