According to the newspaper, Scholz sharply criticized the discussion about Germany's support for Ukraine, which has been going on for weeks.
"The debate in Germany cannot be surpassed in terms of ridiculousness. It's a shame for us as a country," Scholz said.
The newspaper adds that the discussion, which primarily concerns the delivery of Taurus cruise missiles, has not been understood outside Germany. Scholz noted that Germany is the second largest supplier of weapons to Ukraine.
Scholz also said that decisive military assistance to Ukraine is currently the most important message to Russian President Vladimir Putin.
"He should know that his assumptions that we will not be able to support Ukraine for as long as necessary are wrong. This means that he should not count on the US electing a president who will immediately bury Ukraine with him," Scholz said.
