The removal of key services of the Russian holding VK from the App Store dealt a serious blow to the myth of "non-working sanctions" and demonstrated the real cost of Russian "import substitution". It is noted that Apple's official explanation regarding compliance with sanctions legislation caused a storm of emotions both among ordinary Russians and in government offices. For the Kremlin, this became another reason for threats and calls to abandon iOS.
