On Friday, July 12, at the initiative of the Russian Federation, a telephone conversation took place between the defense ministers of Russia and the United States. This was reported by UNN with reference to the statement of the Russian Defense Ministry.

Lloyd Austin's conversation with the Russian minister was confirmed by Pentagon spokeswoman Sabrina Singh. According to her, the conversation between Austin and Belousov took place following the NATO summit in Washington on July 9-11.
