Pornhub to face the EU's toughest online content regime

The EU has classified Pornhub, Xvideos, and Stripchat as "very large online platforms," making them subject to new content moderation rules under the Digital Services Act with potential fines for non-compliance.
Three major adult content sites in Europe are subject to the EU's Digital Services Act (DSA). These are Pornhub, Xvideos, and Stripchat, the European Commission announced on Wednesday, UNN reports.

The European Commission has designated adult content platforms Pornhub, Xvideos and Stripchat as so-called very large online platforms, which are websites visited by an average of more than 45 million Europeans every month.
As Politico points out, the three platforms will have to start fighting harmful content in April 2024, otherwise they face huge fines under the new content moderation rules. Fines for violating the rules can reach 6 percent of global turnover.
