PACE to vote on resolution to counteract destruction of Ukraine's cultural identity - MP

PACE is planning to vote on a resolution to combat the destruction of Ukraine's cultural identity during the war, Ukrainian delegate Yevhenia Kravchuk said. The resolution will be voted on at the summer session after the approval of the draft report in March 2024.
Next summer, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe plans to vote on the resolution "Countering the Destruction of Cultural Identity in Time of War and Peace". This was reported by the Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Humanitarian and Information Policy, a member of the Ukrainian delegation to PACE, Yevhenia Kravchuk, UNN reports.
The PACE Committee on Culture held regular hearings on the resolution "Countering the Destruction of Cultural Identity in Time of War and Peace". The document will address not only the destruction of material cultural heritage by the aggressor, but also the erasure of the cultural identity of Ukrainians as a tool of warfare

According to Kravchuk, at the spring session of the PACE in March 2024, it is planned to approve the text of the draft report, which will consist of three parts, and at the summer session, the PACE will vote on the final resolution.
Structurally, the report will contain provisions on:
- damages and threats to culture and heritage;
- erasure of cultural identity through education, language use and history teaching;
- future activities.
It is worth reminding that
the Bureau of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe approved the personal composition of the special committee on the situation of children in Ukraine.
