OpenAI has announced numerous new features for developers using their technology to create products and services, promising that the updates will increase productivity, flexibility, and cost-effectiveness.
On December 17, the OpenAI team first announced changes to OpenAI o1, a model that, according to the company, can “solve complex, multi-stage problems.” Developers can now use the model at the highest level of utilization.
For example, it is now used by developers to create automated customer service systems, facilitate informed decision-making in the supply chain, and even predict financial trends.
Also, developers can use the updated o1 model to customize messaging to give their AI programs a specific tone and style.
Model has vision capabilities, so it can use images to unlock many other applications in science, manufacturing, or coding where visual data matters.
The OpenAI Realtime API, which developers use for voice assistants, virtual tutors, and translation bots, will also be improved.
The company's new WebRTC support will help with real-time voice services by using JavaScript to create better sound quality and more useful responses. OpenAI also announced price reductions for services such as WebRTC support.

Meta has asked the California Attorney General to block the change of OpenAI's status. The company believes that this will set a dangerous precedent for the abuse of tax benefits.
