The pseudo-director of the Askania-Nova reserve in the Kherson region was served with a notice of suspicion of collaboration with the Russian occupation authorities.

Law enforcement officers have served a notice of suspicion of collaboration to the pseudo-head of the Askania-Nova reserve, which operates in the Kakhovka district of Kherson region, UNN reports, citing the National Police and the Kherson Regional Prosecutor's Office.

Details

As noted, after the seizure of the reserve, the occupation authorities re-registered it and created an illegal state institution, the State Autonomous Institution "Askania-Nova Biosphere Reserve". In early March of this year, a 48-year-old resident of the Kherson region became the head of the pseudo-reserve.

The man established cooperation with zoos and safari parks in Russia, and participated in conferences and exhibitions where he attributed to Russia the achievements of Ukrainian researchers in the field of conservation.

Investigators classified the illegal actions of the pseudo-head under Part 7 of Art. 111-1 "Collaboration" of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. That is, voluntary occupation of a position in an illegal law enforcement agency established in the temporarily occupied territory by a citizen of Ukraine.

The offender faces up to 15 years in prison for committing a crime against the national security of Ukraine.
