More than 30,000 Russian Guard servicemen are deployed in Ukraine. Most of the personnel are engaged in rear guard operations, and only a few Rosgvardia units are involved in combat operations on the front line, according to a new report by the British Ministry of Defense based on intelligence, UNN reports.

Details

It is highly likely that more than 30,000 Rosgvardia (Russian National Guard) servicemen are currently deployed in Ukraine. The majority of the rosgvardia personnel are almost certainly engaged in rear guard operations, and only a few units are involved in combat operations on the front line

- a British intelligence report says.

According to the British Ministry of Defense, the main combat unit of the Russian Guard, the 116th Special Forces Brigade, is likely to consist of 3 regiments armed with tanks, infantry fighting vehicles and artillery.

British intelligence believes that since the beginning of 2024, the Russian Guard has almost certainly tried to increase its frontline forces by absorbing Russian irregulars. In May 2024, the Rosgvardia successfully integrated the Vostok battalion of the so-called "dpr" into its ranks. It is likely that the expected agreement on the transfer of Wagner's troops to the I Volunteer Corps of the Russian Guard broke down in March 2024.
