In Kyiv, on June 25, emergency power outages were introduced. Meanwhile, Ukrenergo warns that due to abnormal heat in Ukraine, stabilization outages lasting up to 5 hours may return, reports UNN citing the company's press service.
Details
It is currently known that the left bank of the capital was initially left without electricity, and then, by order of the national regulator, outages were also introduced on the right bank. The reason is a technological disruption at one of the energy facilities.
As a result of a technological disruption at one of the energy facilities - emergency outages have been applied in parts of Kyiv for all categories of consumers
Meanwhile, the Kyiv City Military Administration promised to keep the situation under control and eliminate all malfunctions as quickly as possible. However, officials did not specify specific deadlines for the work.
Power outage schedules: why they may return and what they say in Ukrenergo
The national regulator confirmed to UNN journalists that emergency power outages have indeed begun in the capital.
Stabilization outage schedules will temporarily not be in effect, as it is necessary to urgently help the energy system. We will notify as soon as the situation improves and the schedule returns
What is the situation in the energy system as of June 25
As of June 25, the domestic energy system is partially damaged as a result of attacks by Russian military forces. Because of this, there is no electricity in parts of villages, towns, and cities in Donetsk, Kharkiv, Sumy, Kherson, and Zaporizhzhia regions.
In addition, due to a significant increase in air temperature, which has been ongoing in the country for several days, electricity consumption has increased. As of 09:30, it was 3.7% higher than at the same time the previous day, on Wednesday.
Context
The Ukrainian energy system remains vulnerable due to the consequences of Russian missile and drone strikes. After massive attacks on energy infrastructure, energy workers are forced to carry out emergency and planned repairs, as well as balance the system using own generation, electricity imports, and consumption restrictions in case of a deficit.
In summer, the main challenge for the energy system is not heating, but a sharp increase in the use of cooling equipment. That is why prolonged heat can create additional load on the grid, especially under conditions of repairs at power plants.
Reminder
The Ukrainian energy system passed the first month of summer 2026 in a relatively stable, but still vulnerable state. It operated in a balancing mode between own generation, imports, repairs, and the risk of new attacks.
