In the Zhytomyr region, as a result of a Russian drone attack over the weekend, five forest fires broke out. The total area of the fires exceeded three hectares. This was reported by the State Enterprise "Forests of Ukraine", writes UNN.

The fire engulfed the forests of the Korosten, Korostyshiv, Baranivka, and Zviahel forestries. The total area of the fires amounted to over 3 hectares

- the statement reads.

The extinguishing was complicated by the hot weather and strong wind. Because of this, the fire spread very quickly, and foresters had to work in difficult conditions, in particular due to the risk of re-detonation.

A large amount of equipment and personnel were involved in extinguishing the fires. On site, 8 fire trucks, 3 fire modules, 5 tractors, and over 40 forest protection workers were working.

Most of the fires were stopped by the evening of Sunday. Foresters constantly monitored the situation to prevent the fire from spreading to larger areas.

During the work, one of the patrol groups noticed that enemy drones were flying very low – at an altitude of approximately 40 meters above the ground. This created an additional danger.
